Ken began his dental career in the mid-1990s, helping local dentists informally with their business management needs. He founded Dental Practice Advisors, LLC in 2001 in response to the needs these dentists expressed for quality, accessible practice management support and for a much deeper professional relationship with their advisors.
Prior to becoming fully dedicated to dentistry in 1993, Ken honed his technical and management skillset with Ernst & Young and two Fortune 500 companies. His hands-on experience includes business start-ups, business ownership transitions, organizational change management, and development of high performing teams. Ken concentrates his efforts with clients in the areas of strategic business planning, high level financial management, team leadership and practice acquisition support.
Paula has been with the practice since 2014 and is the Director of Management Consulting. She started her career in private industry and has worked in the nursing home and manufacturing sectors and held positions as Assistant Controller and Operations Manager. Prior to joining DPA, Paula spent 14 years as a Senior Consultant at a regional firm in Green Bay where she specialized in software system selections, software implementation and training and assisted clients with accounting and financial statement preparation.
Paula graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a BBA in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant. She is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Association of Dental Office Managers. In her role at DPA, Paula provides practice management consulting services to help dental practice owners improve financial and operational results.
Paula resides in the small town of Holland with her husband and two children. Outside of work, Paula enjoys spending time with family, traveling, biking and baking.
Lora is a Certified Public Accountant with experience in financial reporting for small-to-medium sized companies and not-for-profit organizations. Prior to joining DPA, Lora worked as an auditor and reviewer of financial statements in a regional public accounting firm for 13 years. She held a position on the firm’s not-for-profit committee and assisted with various compliance projects.
At DPA, Lora prepares and reviews monthly financial and management reports for our dental practices. She also assists them with financial reporting compliance.
She has served as a member of her church council for several years.
Kathleen’s experience in accounting, management and small business ownership is a tremendous asset to our clients. Kathleen earned her Bachelor’s of Business Degree in Finance and Management from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Her professional background includes demonstrated expertise in business analysis, payroll, financial reporting, job costing, and database development. She works closely with all of our management program and QuickBooks® dental accounting clients every month to generate accurate and timely dental financial statements and key performance metrics.
Susan’s background spans many aspects of financial and operational management including accounting and financial statements, payroll, business systems and processes, daily healthcare operations, budgeting and software conversion support. Her own experience as a small business owner allows her to serve her clients with a high degree of understanding and empathy. Sue works closely with our accounting and management clients on a monthly basis to ensure the accuracy of their financial and practice statistics. In addition Sue processes all of our annual fee & wage survey data.
With more than 18 years of experience in the human resources field, Kim has a proven track record of effectively leading human resources directives and improving the effectiveness of teams and organizations. Most recently, Kim served as a Human Resources Director for a network of dental laboratories located across the United States.
Kim assists clients with their human resource needs including hiring key staff, handbooks and HR compliance. Her broad experience includes areas such as benefits, employee relations, talent acquisition and performance management. Kim’s customized approach ensures that each solution meets the needs of the current situation and is sustainable over time through one-on-one coaching and effective annual planning.
Kim is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) in addition to holding her Senior Professional Human Resources Certification (SPHR).
Turi possesses a strong customer service attitude and technical skillset. She has a degree in communications and more than 18 years of dental industry marketing experience. Turi’s blend of talent and experience helps her work with practices to create marketing and social media communication strategies that are unique and that consistently promote the practice’s personality and brand identity. She specializes in helping practices develop marketing plans and budgets; coordinate website design; create social media content; design brochures, internal forms and collateral materials; and organize printing and mailing projects.
